At breakfast today I heard how many people have left our company: About 10% so far in 2007. This only counts people who left on their own, and doesn’t include any people who got fired, retired, got transferred to other subsidaries, and so on. I am not sure if we met our 20% goal for 2006, but the big boss told his subordinates that 10% wasn’t enough – He wants a further reduction in headcount, while increasing the total number of projects and the overall quality.

Never mind what this says about the guy’s qualifications. The signal is clear: We are trying to make ourselves attractive for a sell-off.
