The BBC reports:

Two teenage girls in Western Australia have been sentenced to life in prison for killing a friend to see whether they would feel remorse at the deed.

The girls, aged 16 at the time of the murder, strangled Eliza Jane Davis [with speaker wire] then buried her under a house.

The girls were jailed for life, with a minimum sentence of 15 years.

While the deed itself is not exceptionally gruesome, I think that the motivation behind the murder more than warrants an entry in the Random Acts of Evil series.
