For the application “betablub”, email isn’t working. Please check if there are problems accessing the mail relay server

I log onto the application server. telnet 80 gives a normal esmtp greeting. We write back that we can connect to the mailserver.

Customer replies immediately.

We here in Munich can also not find any problem with the server.

…Hello? If there is no problem connecting, and the server has no problem, why are you bothering us? My co-worker P. wrote back:

Fine, then we don’t have any problems anywhere. Could you please trace any problems in the application so you can provide a more verbose error description than “mail problems”?

Thank you, P. Exactly my sentiments.
